Mozzarella Ripiena | Italian Stuffed Mozzarella Cheese Recipe

Mozzarella Ripiena Recipe

For this recipe, you will need:

  • 1 large ball mozzarella
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, plus extra for drizzling
  • 1 slice fresh bread (about 30 grams), cubed
  • 5 cherry tomatoes, chopped
  • 4 kalamata olives, chopped
  • 3 to 4 leaves fresh basil
  • Salt
  • Fresh black pepper

In a skillet, bring the olive oil up to medium/high temperature. Add the bread cubes and toast until golden on all sides.

In a bowl, mix the toasted bread, cherry tomatoes, olives and basil with a drizzle of olive oil. Salt and pepper to taste.

Slice off the very top of the mozzarella and use a spoon to carefully hollow out the center, leaving enough cheese to maintain the structure of the “shell.” Fill the shell with the breadcrumb mix and replace the mozzarella top before serving.
